What is your BIG idea?

What can we do to make Cape Girardeau an even better place to live, work, shop, play and visit? What areas of town could use some improvements? Where should future growth occur? What should it look like?

Help us answer these questions and more as we plan for the City’s future by participating in Cape Vision 2040: A New Comprehensive Plan for Cape Girardeau. The Comprehensive Plan will serve as a guide to future growth and development, and be used in both the review of new development proposals and in the planning for future community enhancements such as roadways, parks, or other utility improvements.

April 2018 Update: Thanks to everyone who has shared ideas as part of Cape Vision 2040!  The Draft Plan is currently underway — a public open house will be scheduled and an email notification sent to all project followers in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

“We want this to be the people’s plan, and something that is owned by the public. A city is a living organism comprised of various systems. People, businesses, and neighborhoods change, so any plan that is intended for a city really needs to be able to change along with that.”
– Ryan Shrimplin, Cape City Planner.
